RANCHO SANTA FE, CA – Del Dios Ranch, a 210-acre property never before on the market, has just been listed by Willis Allen Real Estate and will be internationally marketed by Christie’s International Real Estate.

The property, whose main residence is situated in The Covenant, a prized enclave within Rancho Santa Fe, was the longtime home of businessman Roland Sahm and his wife, Ramona. The Sahms were well-known philanthropists in the San Diego community and also owners of Thoroughbred racehorses, including the prizewinning champion Super Diamond. They purchased 50 acres of the property in 1969 and commissioned noted Laguna Beach architect Fred Briggs to design a grand concrete, glass and redwood contemporary main residence and guest house. They then hired esteemed interior designer Arthur Elrod to create the dramatic interiors.

The home, which took three years to construct, is notable for its structural use of reclaimed redwood from northern California; foundations of poured-in-place concrete; and marble floors that were meticulously laid without any grout. In addition, interior wood and cabinetry were milled on the property.

Over the years the Sahm family acquired adjacent parcels of land totaling 210 acres overall. Observed Willis Allen Real Estate listing co-agent Linda Daniels, “the ranch constitutes one of the largest contiguous parcels currently available in Rancho Santa Fe.”

The property’s many amenities include an outdoor tennis court, a six-stall equestrian barn adjoined by corrals and pastures, a lake, and an organic lemon grove. Added co-agent Linda Sansone, “Two of the estate’s most impressive features are the great room with its vaulted ceilings, and a spectacular pavilion that houses an indoor swimming pool and spa.”

The main residence exceeds 8,000 square feet, and the swimming pavilion alone is in excess of 3,000 square feet.

Zackary Wright, Senior Vice President of the Western Region for Christie’s International Real Estate, pointed out that the property is an ideal residence for the active businessperson and recreationist, given its prime location, extensive acreage, and amenities.

“I can’t think of a more stellar opportunity in the coveted community of Rancho Santa Fe at this time,” he said, adding: “Just like the famous Thoroughbred that lived on its grounds, this property is undeniably trophy-worthy.”
