Eileen and Jerry Ford, founders of the renowned Ford Models agency, shared the cherished Tewksbury, New Jersey, mansion they named Hilltop with visiting friends, family and fellow professionals. The couple hosted international luminaries in the publishing, photography, entertainment and fashion industries, including Kim Basinger and Jerry Hall. Ford Models was well-known for representing some of the most-recognized faces in the world such as Christie Brinkley, Elle Macpherson, Cheryl Tiegs and Christy Turlington.
While they were highly acclaimed in their professional field, the Fords also found time to relax and entertain at Hilltop, which is filled with one-of-a-kind details inspired by their global travels. Although Jerry passed away in 2009, Eileen continues to enjoy a rich and rewarding life at her treasured Hilltop estate. She recently decided to list the property with Christie's International Real Estate exclusive Afiliate Turpin Realtors at a new price point of US$2,950,000.
This beautiful estate is sited on more than 19 acres which take in breathtaking countryside views of the Hunterdon Hills, valley vistas, landscaped gardens and thousands of Springtime daffodils. Inside, the flowing 14-room floor plan was magnificently designed in 1995 to be a perfect backdrop for intimate living as well as lavish entertaining. The stunning floor plan includes eight bedrooms--five of which are en-suite with a full custom-tiled bath--and four half baths.
Arranged in a traditional center hall layout, this sophisticated Colonial estate home brims with warmth and character. The abundance of French doors and oversized windows allows natural light to illuminate principal gathering spaces such as the expansive living and dining rooms and a wood-paneled library featuring millwork crafted by Austrian wood carvers. Each of these entertaining areas has a wood-burning fireplace and elegant architectural details.
The Fords scoured Europe to find antique tiles for the kitchen and fireplace surrounds, just one of many details that add visual interest and memorable style to the home. Their travels also led them to discover 17th century French limestone floors and a limestone fireplace for the screened-in porch. In the spacious state-of-the-art kitchen, an informal dining room opens onto an outdoor terrace with expansive views, making it a perfect spot for warm weather dining.
The grandly-styled master bedroom suite is completed by a handsome fireplace. In addition to the remaining four en-suite bedrooms, there is a separate three-bedroom staff quarters with a private bath. Outside, park-like grounds contain an inviting heated pool and a tennis court. Located on the border of Somerset County in Tewksbury Township, the uniquely-designed Hilltop has all the benefits of a secluded country estate, yet is conveniently ocated 45 miles from the Holland Tunnel. Its highly secure location offers a gated entry, full security system and fencing.
